Sammy's good friend Chandrika Tandon brings her beautiful voice and chants to Didi Krishna's event "Lead Life With Purpose". Sammy joins Chandrika's traditional instrumentation with his special small cajon from Pitchslap.

Sammy Figueroa joins legendary drummer Steve Jordan and vibes player Juan Diego Villalobos in a tribute to Cal Tjader at the Jazz Foundation of America's Great Night Gala. Other artists that night will include Norah Jones, Patrice Rushen and Buster Williams.

In his off-Broadway debut Sammy joins the cast of The Potluck,a play about the Greensboro Massacre in 1979, where five labor organizers were murdered at a protest in the streets of Greensboro, NC, by members of the KKK and the American Nazi Party. The Potluck is a new musical featuring a 12 person intergenerational cast that conjures the soft side of the revolution, and tells a story about what to do when the government is actually trying to kill you. Presented by Soho Repertory and INTAR Latin American Theater.
